The title earns the tap; the description seals the decision. Here’s how to write both well.

The title

Keep it to the name of the event — clear and to the point. The date, time, and venue already appear on your event card, so you don’t need them in the title.

Leave out:

The date, day, or time (“Friday”, “Tonight”, “June 14”)

The venue or host name

Hype and all-caps (“BEST EVENT EVER!!!”)

Strings of emojis

Good: Sunset Ecstatic Dance · Introduction to Pottery · Contact Improvisation Jam · Sound Journey & Meditation

Avoid: Friday Ecstatic Dance at Pyramid · FREE YOGA CLASS!!! · Ecstatic Dance Koh Phangan June 14

Be specific rather than short. “Morning Vinyasa Flow” tells people more than “Vinyasa,” and it costs nothing. If your event has a sub-type or theme, a colon works well: “Sound Journey: Gongs & Crystal Bowls.”

The description

Aim for a few short paragraphs — enough to answer what it is, what happens, and who it’s for. A simple structure works every time:

Open with what it is. One or two lines on the experience.

What happens. Walk people through the flow — what to expect when they arrive and during the event.

Who it’s for. Beginners welcome? All levels? Bring a friend? Say so.

Practical info. Anything they need to know — what to bring, what to wear, arrival notes.

You can format the text with bold and bullet lists to make it easy to scan.

A few things to avoid

Marketing hype and ALL CAPS

Walls of emojis

Repeating the date, price, or location that already show on the card

Write the way you’d describe it to a friend who’s deciding whether to come. Clear and warm beats loud and salesy every time.

Daily Specials and 1:1 sessions

The same rules apply, with one difference: name the offering, not a moment in time. “Sauna & Ice Bath” rather than “Tonight’s Sauna Session.” A Daily Special is something people can come and do whenever you’re open, so the title shouldn’t imply a one-off.

Stuck? Use this prompt

If writing isn’t your thing, paste the block below into ChatGPT, Claude, or any AI assistant, add your raw event details at the bottom, and it will give you a title and description in our format. Always read what comes back and make it sound like you, it’s a starting point, not a finished listing.

You are helping me write a listing for Todo.Today, a curated local events platform. Write in a warm, clear, human voice. No marketing hype, no ALL CAPS, no emoji strings, no em dashes.

Give me three things:

1. TITLE
Just the name of the event. No date, day, time, venue, or host name (those show separately on the card). Be specific rather than short: "Morning Vinyasa Flow" not "Vinyasa". Use a colon for a sub-type or theme if it helps. Max 80 characters.

2. SHORT DESCRIPTION
One sentence, max 120 characters, that makes someone want to tap. This is the line people see on the event card. Don't repeat the title.

3. DESCRIPTION
Three to five short paragraphs, in this order:
- What it is (one or two lines on the experience)
- What happens (the flow, what to expect on arrival and during)
- Who it's for (beginners welcome? all levels? any prerequisites?)
- Practical info (what to bring, what to wear, arrival notes)

Do not put the date, time, price, venue name, address, or booking links in the description. Those all live in their own fields. Do not use em dashes. Keep it under 1000 characters.

Here are my event details:
[paste everything you have: what it is, when, where, who's leading it, price, what people should know]

One warning: AI tends to invent details it wasn’t given. Check that every claim in the result is actually true of your event before you submit it.

Write event titles and descriptions that get people to show up: a clear naming formula, a simple description structure, the mistakes to avoid, and a copy-paste AI prompt if you’re stuck.

[1188
post-104934","guide","type-guide","status-publish","hentry","guide_category-creators
["GET
