What is Yoga Nidra?🌙💤

Yoga Nidra (Yogic Sleep) is a conscious relaxation meditation practice.

Although it is called yogic sleep, the practice is about staying awake and aware. It is a deep systematic body-mind relaxation, helps you train your awareness, consolidate memories and process emotions.

Simply said, it's a guided deep relaxation meditation on your back, no movement, eyes closed and all you have to do is to listen to the instructions. What should I expect? You will learn how to “self-practice” the powerful techniques to relax consciously and/or help you fall asleep. We also explore deeper levels of awareness in the Nidra practice such as Chakras and processing emotions, memories etc.

Each week, we will discover how Yoga Nidra makes an “imprint” on the mind. This can be used to overcome habits, limiting beliefs, manifest etc. All this is possible because the meditative practice takes you into an alpha state (the brain wave frequency that links conscious thought with the subconscious mind.) When we are in the Alpha hypnagogic state, we experience blissful relaxation and awareness.

We are able to access subconscious thoughts and process past memories.

Repressed and unprocessed grief can loosen their hold, tension and grip, whilst we can learn to find a little more freedom and detachment from unhelpful habits and thought patterns. It is believed that 1 hour of yoga nidra equals 4 hours of sleep. Most of our practices are during the day.

This will leave you refreshed, energetic, rejuvenated and will not impact your ability to sleep that night.

What to bring? Please arrive 5-10 minutes before the practice Wear comfortable clothing (laying down in savasana) For best results, please have an empty (nearly empty stomach) You may bring your own mat, eye mask, blankets - we will have some as well Water Paper and pen (Like most of our dreams, the Yoga Nidra experience may dissipate quickly.

You are invited to journal about the experience after Benefits of practicing Yoga Nidra: Reduce stress, better sleep, improves memory, concentration (may improve your ability to meditate), creativity, resets the mind, potential to heal deep psychological wounds when practiced consistently and can bring about a profound sense of joy & well-being.
