Join us for The Cup (1999), a warm, quietly funny, and deeply human story about a group of young Tibetan Buddhist monks living in a monastery in exile, whose peaceful routine is interrupted by their growing obsession with the 1998 World Cup.

Inspired by true events, the film was written and directed by Dzongsar Jamyang Khyentse Rinpoche, also known as Khyentse Norbu, and features real monks rather than professional actors, offering a rare and intimate glimpse into monastic life while gently exploring the meeting point between ancient tradition and the desires of the modern world.

Behind its wonderfully simple story lies a reflection on attachment, change, friendship, and the very human ability to find joy in unexpected places.
