108 Aums: Om Chanting Circle
Discovered on Todo.Today, for more events in Koh Phangan
Every Saturday evening we gather in Hexagon's sound temple and chant AUM 108 times.
The temple was built for this.
Six sides outside, a perfect circle within, and a dome shaped to reverberate the sound and reflect it back to us. The voices rise, curve along the dome, and return through the center in a continuous toroidal flow. After a few rounds you stop hearing yourself as separate. There is one sound, and you are inside it.
AUM is said to be the mantra of all mantras. Chanted 108 times, it becomes less a word and more a vibration you can feel in your chest, your skull, and the floor beneath you. The mind quiets down because there's nothing left for it to do.
We finish with a gong bath. The dome fills with long, layered waves of sound that reach the core of your being and help you let go of what doesn't belong.
No experience needed.
Bring your voice and your presence, and let the magic of AUM do the rest.
