Discover Indian Rhythm
Discovered on Todo.Today, for more events in Ubud
Learn Indian rhythm with Dnyaneshwar Deshmukh, an award-winning Pakhawaj player. Explore Taala, the rhythmic tradition of Indian classical music, through practical exercises, listening, vocal rhythm and percussion.
Build a rhythmic foundation, internalise tempo through Laya practice, explore Indian rhythmic cycles and vocabulary, and learn how singing works with percussion. The workshop also explores percussion styles used in Kirtan and Bhajan and develops rhythmic awareness for performance.
Open to musicians, vocalists, dancers, percussionists, Kirtan and Bhajan artists, performing artists, and anyone curious about Indian rhythm. No prior knowledge of Indian rhythm is required.
Individual drop-ins are welcome. This session is part of a 24-session course running 1–27 October. Weekly and four-week passes are also available.
